Apple Shares Latest iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 Adoption RatesApple Shares Latest iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 Adoption Rates

Apple has released fresh figures revealing how many iPhones and iPads are now running iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. These adoption numbers are drawn from devices that interacted with the App Store on February 12, 2026.

The data shows that 74% of iPhones introduced in the last four years are operating on iOS 26. Meanwhile, 66% of all iPhones have already updated to the latest software. iPadOS 26 also shows strong adoption, with 66% of iPads from the past four years running the new system. Overall, 57% of all iPads have made the update.

When compared to the iOS 18 rollout, the numbers appear similar at first glance. On January 21, 2025, Apple reported that 76% of iPhones from the last four years were on iOS 18, and 68% of all iPhones had updated. For iPads, 63% of devices from the last four years used iPadOS 18, while 53% of all iPads had adopted it.

However, the timeline explains the apparent similarity. iOS 26 adoption is based on data collected roughly 150 days after release, whereas iOS 18 figures were measured after 127 days. This extra three-week window means iOS 26 had more time to reach users, masking its slightly slower adoption pace.

Despite slower initial uptake, iOS 26’s adoption is not as low as earlier unofficial estimates suggested. Analysts believe some users may be hesitant to adopt the new Liquid Glass design immediately. iPadOS 26 adoption, technically higher than iPadOS 18, similarly benefited from the extended availability period.

In summary, while iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 adoption rates look comparable to previous releases, the data indicates a modest slowdown. Users appear to be taking extra time to transition, reflecting cautious interest in the latest updates rather than widespread resistance. Apple continues to see strong engagement, with the majority of devices from the last four years embracing the newest software.

This trend highlights user behavior patterns and adoption cycles, helping developers and consumers understand when most devices are likely to update.
